About the authors

Ademar Pozzatti is a Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Law (PPGD), in the
Postgraduate Program in International Relations (PPGRI) and in the Department of
Economics and International Relations (DERI) of the Federal University of Santa Maria
(UFSM/Brazil), where he coordinates the NPPDI - Center for Research and Practice in
International Law (CNPq/UFSM). He holds a Master's and Doctorate in International
Relations Law from the Graduate Program in Law of the Federal University of Santa Catarina
(UFSC/Brazil) and a Bachelor's degree in Law from the Federal University of Santa Maria
(UFSM/Brazil). Participated in the Sandwich Doctorate Abroad Program funded by CAPES,
at the École de Droit of the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris - Sciences Po. He did his
post-doctoral internship at the École de Droit of the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris -
Sciences Po in 2020/2021. She is academically interested in issues related to international
mobilization for global justice, such as development, recognition and decoloniality, and
international cooperation for the realization of human rights.

Ana Cláudia Alves Cunha Paiva holds a Master in Political Science and International
Relations from the Federal University of Paraíba. Bachelor of Laws from the Instituto de
Educação Superior da Paraíba. Bachelor in International Relations from the Federal
University of Paraíba. Lawyer - Paraíba Sectional. She is interested in the areas of Civil Law,
Cooperative Law, Public International Law, International Politics.

Aureo Toledo is an Associate Professor II at the Federal University of Uberlândia, located at
the Institute of Economics and International Relations and working in the undergraduate and
graduate programs in International Relations of that institution. He holds a degree in
International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (2004), Master's
(2008) and PhD (2012) in Political Science from the University of São Paulo. He was a
Visiting Scholar (post-doctoral internship) at The University of Manchester, Humanitarian
and Conflict Response Institute between 2014 and 2015, funded by CAPES. In 2019 he was a
Fulbright Visiting Scholar at George Mason University, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School
for Peace and Conflict Resolution. His main research is linked to the following themes:
International Security and Peace Studies, Ernesto Laclau's Discourse Theory and
International Relations Theories (especially post-structuralist and post-colonialist
approaches).

Caio Galvão de França holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Luiz de Queiroz
College of Agriculture - University of São Paulo (1985), a Master's degree in Sociology from
the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1998) and a Specialist in Public Management (2009).
He has served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Management and Service of the Personal Office of
the President of the Republic; Chief of Staff of the Minister; Chief of the Advisory Office for
International Affairs and Trade Promotion and Coordinator of the Center for Agrarian Studies
and Rural Development of the Ministry of Agrarian Development. Technical Analyst of
Social Policies at the Federal Superintendence of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of
Pernambuco. Has experience in Sociology, with emphasis on Rural Sociology and Rural Development, and public management, working mainly on the following themes: agrarian reform, family agriculture public policies, regional integration, social movements. He has worked in the areas of training and union assistance.

Camila Vidal is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Economics and International
Relations at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) where she works in the
Graduate Program in International Relations (PPGRI) and the Undergraduate Course in
International Relations. She served as an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Rio
Grande (FURG) in the Undergraduate Course in International Relations (2016-2019). She
holds a BA in International Relations from Florida International University (FIU); MA and
PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) with a
doctoral internship at the École de Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in France.
She has experience in the following topics: Theories of International Relations, Political
Theory and American Politics. She is currently a member of the following groups: INCT-
INEU (National Institute of Science and Technology for Studies on the United States),
GEPPIC (Research Group on Strategic Studies and Contemporary International Politics), and
the History of the United States Study Network; where she leads the research The power of
ideas and hegemonic maintenance through consensus: the United States and Latin America.
She is also a member of the Institute of Memory and Human Rights (IMDH/UFSC).

Catia Grisa is an adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)
- North Coast Campus - Interdisciplinary Bachelor in Science and Technology. Professor in
the Postgraduate Programs in Rural Development (PGDR/UFRGS) and Regional Dynamics
and Development (PGDREDES/UFRGS). PhD in Social Sciences at the Graduate Program in
Development, Agriculture and Society (CPDA/UFRRJ - 20120), with a Sandwich Doctorate
at the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le
Développement (CIRAD), in Montpellier/France. Master in Rural Development from
PGDR/UFRGS (2007) and Agronomic Engineer from the Federal University of Pelotas
(FAEM/UFPel - 2004). She is one of the coordinators of the Network Public Policies and
Rural Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (Rede PP-AL - 2022-2025), Vice
President of the Brazilian Society of Economics, Administration and Rural Sociology (2019-
2023) and member of the State Council of Food Security and Nutrition (CONSEA) of the
State of Rio Grande do Sul (2020-2023). She was part of the Board of Directors of the Rural
Studies Network in the period 2019-2021. She is a member of the Scientific Council of the
Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développemment
(CIRAD), France. She has experience in the areas of Social Sciences, Sociology and Politics,
with emphasis in the fields of rural sociology, public policies and rural development. She
develops studies and researches on the following themes: family farming, public policies for
family farming, food policies, rural development and food and nutritional security.

Denis Fernando Radun holds a Master in Cultural Heritage and Society from UNIVILLE
and doctoral candidate in the same post-graduation program with research on World
Heritage, Justice and Citizenship. Lawyer, founding partner of the law firm Mendonça &
Radun Advogados, based in Joinville-SC. Professor with activities in the areas of Criminal
Procedural Law, Criminal Law, Adequate Means of Conflict Solution, Family Law, Succession Law, Children and Teenagers'; Law, Professional Ethics, Guided Legal Practice Internships, and Restorative Justice. In Law teaching, he is interested in discussing pedagogical innovations, especially new teaching and learning methodologies, such as: flipped classroom, problem-based learning, learning by interdisciplinary projects, case studies, field classes, technical visits, and the use of digital technologies. He has experience in coordinating extension projects in the area of civil associationism and cooperativism and, recently, in the area of Restorative Justice in Civil Police Stations and Public Schools. To this end, he has led partnerships with the Executive Power, the Judiciary Power, the Public
Defender's Office and civil society entities. In the area of academic research, he has oriented
end-of-course papers in Law. He was coordinator of the Law Course at UniSociesc in
Joinville/SC (2019-2020). In addition, he is part of inter-institutional teams (UNICAMP and
UNIVILLE) that develop interdisciplinary research projects on the following topics: Law and
Cultural Heritage; International Organizations (UNESCO, International Criminal Court and
International Court of Justice) and Cultural Rights; Law, theory and policies of memory,
heritage and reparation. He was coordinator of the Legal Practice Center of UniSociesc
(2016-2019) where legal assistance activities are developed for people in situations of social
vulnerability, in the areas of Family Law, Civil Law, Consumer Law and Criminal
Enforcement. He was a member of the Second Panel of the Ethics and Discipline Court of the
Brazilian Bar Association, Santa Catarina Chapter (2019-2021). He has also worked with
consulting in the areas of Cultural Law, Environmental Law and Human Rights.

Eduardo Uziel holds a degree in Law from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (1998) and
a degree in History from the Fluminense Federal University (1998). He is currently a
diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and assistant professor at the Instituto Rio
Branco. He has experience in Political Science, with emphasis in International Politics,
working mainly on the following themes: United Nations, peacekeeping operations, Security
Council, Brazilian foreign policy and Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Fernando Cesar Sossai holds a bachelor degree in History from Univille, master's and
doctorate in Education from UDESC. He works as a teacher, researcher, extensionist and
manager at Univille. He is a permanent professor in the post-graduate program in Cultural
Heritage and Society and in the undergraduate courses in History and Visual Arts.
Coordinates the Memorial Center and the Laboratory of Oral History at Univille. He
coordinates the Institutional Program of Scholarships for Initiation to Teaching at Univille
(PIBID). President of the Brazilian Oral History Association (ABHO). Director of the
National Association of History - Santa Catarina Section (ANPUH-SC). He works in Human
Sciences, particularly in projects in the fields of History, Education and Cultural Heritage. In
History, he develops projects on: a) History and Oral History; b) History of Education;
History and Heritage. In the field of Education, he integrates and coordinates projects about:
a) International Organizations and consensus formation in Education; b) Education,
technologies and digital culture; c) Educational policies. In Heritage, he coordinates projects
on the following topics: a) World Heritage (cultural, natural and mixed); b) Heritage policies;
c) Heritage, development and environment; d) Heritage and digital culture. He is vice-leader
of the research group City, Culture and Difference.

Gelson Fonseca Júnior is a diplomat and professor, holds a degree in Legal Sciences (1969)
from Guanabara State University (RJ) and a Master in Latin American Affairs from
Georgetown University (USA). In 1995 he was President of Alexandre de Gusmão
Foundation (in charge of Itamaraty's research, seminars and publications). He is a professor at
the Instituto Rio Branco and at the Post-Graduate Program in International Relations at UERJ
(Rio de Janeiro State University) and a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Política
Externa (Editora Paz e Terra). Author of several books and articles on International Relations
Theory and Brazilian Foreign Policy, with emphasis on Brazil's multilateral action. In 1999
he was nominated Ambassador of Brazil to the UN; in 2002 he was Head of Delegation of
the 9th Session of the Preparatory Commission for the International Criminal Court in New
York; in 2003 he was nominated Ambassador of Brazil in Santiago, and in 2006, Consul
General of Brazil in Madrid. Since 2009 he has worked as Inspector General of the Foreign
Service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brasilia. He is currently Consul General of
Brazil in Porto, Portugal.

Ilanil Coelho holds a degree in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo
(1986), a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of São Carlos
(1993), a PhD in Cultural History from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2010), and a
Postdoctoral degree from the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2018). She is a professor in
the History course and in the Postgraduate Program in Cultural Heritage and Society at the
University of the Joinville Region (Univille). She is currently coordinator of the History
course at Univille, elected for the biennium 2019/2020. She is the leader of the group City,
Culture and Difference (registered in the CNPq research group directory), seeking
possibilities of interlocution of cultural history with studies from the fields of cultural
heritage, education and urban anthropology and sociology.

Luciana Wietchikoski is graduated in History (LP) at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF),
master's and doctorate in Political Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul
(UFRGS), is currently a post doctoral candidate in International Relations at the Federal
University of Santa Catarina. She is a researcher of the Research Group in Strategic Studies
and Contemporary International Politics at UFSC (GEPPIC), the Study Group on Security
and International Politics at UFRGS and also integrates the network Community of Chinese
and Latin American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). She works
mainly in the area of International Politics, with emphasis on the following themes: the
international construction of ideas about Brazil, think tanks in comparative perspective and
United States foreign policy towards Latin America.

Luciene Soares Herculano is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Federal University
of Pernambuco (UFPE). Master's in Political Science from the Pontifical Catholic University
of São Paulo (PUC/SP) and post-graduate in Politics and International Relations from
Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo (FESP/SP). In this same institution
she concluded a specialization in Public Management. She has a degree in Journalism from
Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (UNICAP) and in Radio and TV from Universidade
Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). As in her Master's degree, she is a PhD candidate with a
scholarship from the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior
(CAPES). She is a member of the Center for Research in Politics and International Relations
(NEPI) at UFPE.

Luiza Witzel Farias is a Master';s student in International Relations at the Federal University
of Santa Maria (UFSM) and Bachelor in International Relations from the same university.
Researcher at the NPPDI - Center for Research and Practice in International Law
(CNPq/UFSM).

Marcelo Alves de Paula Lima holds a Bachelor's and Bachelor's degree in History from the
Federal University of Minas Gerais (2013 and 2014). Master in Economic History from the
University of São Paulo (2017) with FAPESP scholarship, having researched Nazism and
Integralism in comparative perspective. He was a researcher at the Institut für Zeitgeschichte
(Institute of Contemporary History) in Munich with FAPESP scholarship, where he
developed research on Nazi ideology. He has experience as a substitute professor at the
UFMG History Department, where he taught courses on anti-Semitic thought in Brazil and on
fascist ideas and practices in South America and Europe. He has also taught General History
at Colégio e Pré-Vestibular Losango (Lavras-MG), and History at Colégio e Pré-Vestibular
Bernoulli (Belo Horizonte-MG). Marcelo is currently a doctoral student in History and
Political Cultures at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, where he is developing research
on the foreign policy of the Brazilian military regime. The objective of his thesis is to
understand to what extent anti-communism influenced the relations between the Brazilian
military regime and the Republic of China between 1964 and 1974. Since August 2020,Marcelo is a professor at the Comparative Humanities program of Habib University in Karachi, Pakistan, where he has taught the following courses: "Pakistan and Modern South Asia"; "What is Modernity"; "Latin American History"; "The Global Post-Colony"; "Conceptual Genealogies: the Master-Slave Dialectic&quot"; "(Global Histories) Military Regimes in South Asia and South America"; "World Historical Figures: Toussaint L'Ouverture and Simon Bolivar; "Brazilian Independence"; Areas of interest: Contemporary History, History of International Relations, Brazilian Foreign Policy, Independent Foreign Policy, History of the Brazilian Republic, History of right-wing ideas and movements.

Nene-Lomotey Kuditchar is a lecturer at the Department of Political Science and a Fellow
at the Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa, University of Ghana. His research
interests include meta-power theory, critical realism, African democracy and international
politics. He is also an adjunct instructor at the Legon Center for International Affairs and
Diplomacy and the Institute for Statistical Social and Economic Research (all at the
University of Ghana) and the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College. He is also a
former research associate of the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development where he worked
on an ETH Zurich-based collaborative research project on Ethnic Power Relations and
Conflict in Fragile States. 

Paulo Niederle is a professor in the Graduate Programs in Sociology (PPGS) and Rural
Development (PGDR) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). PhD in
Social Sciences (CPDA/UFRRJ, 2011) with a sandwich doctorate at CIRAD-Montpellier
(UMR Innovation) and University of Lyon II. Coordinator of the Sociology Area of Capes
(2022-2025). Coordinates the Research Group on Sociology of Food Practices (SOPAS) and
is a member of the Study and Research Group on Agriculture, Food and Development
(GEPAD-UFRGS) and the Observatory of Latin American Family Farms (AFLA-UFRGS-
UNILA). He is also a member of the Food Security Working Group of CLACSO/FAO, the
Latin American representative of the Research Committee on Agriculture and Food (RC 40)
of the International Sociological Association (ISA), member of the Group of Investigators in
Public Policies for Family Farming (GIPPAF) of REAF-Mercosur, and researcher of the
Public Policies Network in Latin America (Red PP-AL). He was vice-president of the Latin
American Association of Rural Sociology (ALASRU 2019-2022). He is a member of the
board of directors of the Rural Studies Network (2021-2023). He has experience in the areas
of economic sociology, sociology of institutions, rural sociology and institutional economics,
having worked mainly on the following topics: institutions and development, family farming
dynamics, agri-food markets, quality conventions, institutions and economic regulation, and
alternative food networks.

Sergio Schargel is a Ph.D candidate in Literature at USP, Ph.D candidate in Media at
UERJ, Ph.D candidate in Political Science at UFF. He holds a master degree in Literature
from PUC-Rio and a master degree in Political Science from Unirio, as well as bachelors
in Social Communication, Journalism and Social Communication, Advertising and
Marketing, both from PUC-Rio. Current CAPES fellow, former CNPq fellow. His
research and artistic production are focused on the relationship between literature and
politics, covering themes such as political theory, political literature, dehumanization,
anti-Semitism and the work of Sylvia Serafim Thibau. He published in vehicles such as
Nexo, Cantareira, Dignidade Re:Vista, Ribanceira, Valittera, HanzeMAG, Albuquerque,
Almanaque de Ciência Política, Entrelaces, among others, besides several translations of
academic and journalistic articles, mainly for Folha de S.Paulo, Brazilian biggest media
outlet. He presented papers at events such as CAPPE, Mostra bosque, CLAEC, Póscom,
LETEX, among others. He organized the twenty-seventh edition of Revista Escrita.

Silvia Aparecida Zimmermann is na Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Latin
American Integration (UNILA). Post-Doctorate by the Observatory of Public Policies for
Agriculture (OPPA/CPDA/UFRRJ). PhD of Sociology in Development, Agriculture and
Society at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (2011). Doctoral internship at École
des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris, France (2009/2010). Master's degree in
Development, Agriculture and Society, CPDA/UFRRJ (2006). Graduated in Agronomy at the
Federal University of Santa Maria (2002). Has experience in the field of agriculture, with
emphasis on rural sociology, working mainly on public policies for agriculture, rural
development, territorial development, food and nutritional security, and public spaces for the
construction of public policies. Researcher at the Observatory of Public Policies for
Agriculture (OPPA); the National Institute of Science and Technology in Public Policy, Strategies and Development (INCT/PPED/UFRJ) and the Reference Center for Food Security and Nutrition (CERESAN).

Tiago Soares Nogara is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of São Paulo
(USP). He holds a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Brasília
(UnB) and a degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul
(UFRGS), with a sandwich period at the Facultad de Ciencia Política y Relaciones
Internacionales da Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR). He was a visiting professor at
the course of International Relations at the University of Brasilia (UnB), teaching the subjects
Theory of International Relations I and Topics in International Politics II. He is assistant
coordinator of the research line Brazilian Strategic Environment, of the Group of Studies and
Research in International Security (GEPSI). His research interests include South American
politics and regionalism, Brazilian foreign policy, and Chinese foreign policy. He has
advanced proficiency in Spanish (C1 - Instituto Cervantes) and English (104/120 - TOEFL-
IBT).

Túlio Sérgio Henriques Ferreira is na Associate Professor at the Department of
International Relations and at the PPGCPRI of UFPB. Graduated in Journalism from the
Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (1991) and History from the Federal
University of Minas Gerais (1997). Specialist (2002), Master (2006) and PhD in International
Relations from UnB (2012). Post-doctorate/ Visiting Professor Brown University (2018-
2019).
