About the Journal
Contexto Internacional is one of the leading journals in international relations within Brazil. Published since 1985, Contexto’s history and development parallels that of the Institute of International Relations at PUC-Rio as an important forum for rigorous and innovative research that challenges the boundaries of IR, with a particular scope in the dynamics and challenges experienced within and around the Global South.
From its inception, the journal has been known for publishing articles that bridge the gap between policy and theoretical analysis, privileging an interdisciplinary look at issues that are of utmost concern for global affairs. In its current format, Contexto aims at linking research from different parts of the world that delve critically into issues surrounding the Global South.
Contexto is published in English three times a year. The editors invites submissions from researchers and practitioners from all over the globe, especially senior and junior scholars, and PhD students in the fields of International Relations, Political Science and related fields, whose work might contribute to a better understanding of international issues in a changing world. Contexto is particularly suited for innovative, investigative and exploratory articles that provide insight into the realities and situated knowledges that stem from and around the Global South.
Contexto warmly welcomes original research articles and proposals for special issues around themes that are central to the current international agenda and to the field of International Relations. If you are interested in submitting a special issue proposal, please check in advance with the Editors at cintjournal@puc-rio.br.
We also welcome review essays and book reviews in an effort to provide an overarching and reflexive coverage of contemporary political analysis and academic debate within the large and increasingly interdisciplinary field of international affairs. We strongly encourage doctoral students to submit review essays and book reviews that speak to the scope of the journal.
All contributions are submitted to double blind peer review and are rigorously evaluated by experts. Submissions must be original and must not have been submitted for publication elsewhere while under consideration by Contexto. In exceptional circumstances, articles that have been previously published in languages other than English and that provide original and groundbreaking contributions to the field might be considered by the Editors. The author alone is responsible for ensuring that no copyrights are violated in such cases.
Contexto’s average rejection rate is 0.56 as of 2016.
